THE STORY OF BLACKSHIP
Blackship blends two of the world’s most beloved culinary cultures – Italian and Japanese – for a menu of progressive of visually innovative shared plates and house-made pastas. Chef Keiichi Kurobe, former executive sous chef of Los Angeles’ acclaimed Hinoki & The Bird, draws inspiration from his personal heritage and extensive global travels, brilliantly combining Italian influences with Japanese techniques and ingredients.
Blackship is inspired by the fleet of black ships the United States sent to Japan in the 1850s to open trading between Japan and the West. This led to new spices and flavors in Japanese and Western cuisine.
